Celebration of God’s Call

September sees the start of a new Methodist year and the beginning of the second year of the York Circuit (the local group of Methodist churches Central belongs to).  At 6.30pm on Sunday, 8th September there will be a united circuit service at Central, with the theme A Celebration of God’s Call.

The service will be led by the Chair of the York & Hull District, Revd Stephen Burgess, with our circuit superintendent minister, Revd Philip Turner, preaching.  The service will include a celebration of holy communion.  We will be welcoming a new circuit minister, Revd Ian Hill, and hearing news about the introduction of a pilot scheme for local pastoral ministry and the district’s youth interns who are based in our circuit.

Feel free to come along; refreshments will be served afterwards.

Poetry reading

There’ll be a poetry reading here at Central on Saturday, 3rd August at 6.30pm.  One of our congregation will be reading from his collection Ballads for the Consciousness Soul, exploring the theme of “Healing the Schism: Christ in the East-West Divide”.  All welcome.

Basement Central now officially open!

Yesterday evening was the official opening ceremony for Basement Central, with Revd Chris Humble (Central Methodist) and Revd Matthew Porter (St Michael-le-Belfrey) cutting the ribbon.  Basement Central is already proving a valuable and fruitful location for youth and children’s work but yesterday was a chance to show the place to a few more people and celebrate how we’ve got to where we are.

Have a look at some pictures which give a taste of the occasion:
